Dr. Alyssa Thomas
Dr. Alyssa Thomas, DVM, is an Emergency Veterinarian at Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson.
Born and raised in Tucson, Dr. Thomas started her journey in veterinary medicine in wildlife rehabilitation and zoo medicine while she obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Arizona. After a short period as a senior animal technician working in a research setting, she went on to complete her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
Following graduation, she completed an intensive small animal rotating internship in Arizona with a heavy emphasis on emergency medicine and critical care. While she briefly served as a general practitioner, she found her calling in returning to emergency medicine. Her favorite subjects include infectious and autoimmune diseases, but she has a strong passion for critical care at large.
In her free time, she enjoys volunteering at an exotic animal sanctuary, camping, and spending time with her small zoo at home.
