Dr. Sarah Carotenuto

Dr. Sarah Carotenuto, DVM, is an Emergency Veterinarian at Veterinary Specialty Center of Tucson. 

Dr Sarah Carotenuto, DVM, DABVP (CF) has been practicing emergency medicine for over 15 years in sunny Arizona. She attended Duke University for her undergraduate degree, and North Carolina State University for her veterinary degree, before relocating to Arizona, where she has lived since graduation. She is boarded by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners in the canine and feline species, and teaches ultrasound, small animal toxicology, small animal surgery, and gastroenterology at the University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine. Her motto is "emergency for all!" and is loves helping in emergencies with furry, feathery, scaley, or even bald pets who may need emergency help! She has a special interest in venomics, toxicology, exotic animal and small animal emergency medicine, soft tissue surgery, and ultrasound. She is usually followed by a gaggle of students and loves to illustrate complicated medical conditions on a white board to students and pet owners alike to bring them into the decision making process. Her research has been published in JAVMA.

"Dr C" resides in Tucson and has been married to her amazing husband for over 20 years, has 2 eternally inquisitive daughters, 2 adorable ginger cats, 2 salad demanding guinea pigs, as well as a tank of proliferating freshwater snails. If you can’t find her, look on the trails of Arizona or the beaches of Hawaii.... She enjoys hiking, biking, traveling, cooking, and of course, eating! She is an active member of her local church and leads spay and neuter trips locally and internationally with the UofA CVM Shelter Club and the Christian Veterinary Mission.
